Got back from a five day city trip to London yesterday. I went with leetje. We figured after our great trip to Paris, we should do it again and chose London. It was a great trip and I really enjoyed myself. Saw all the big sites and did a little bit of shopping.

I really needed this trip after the horror weeks I had at work lately. I guess I shut myself off emotionally at work and it caught up hard right before my London trip. I had to get back in touch with myself, let go of all the things that have anything to do with work and just have fun again.

And I think we succeeded at having fun. The hostel wasn't as new and nice as the one in Paris, but the girls we shared the dorm room with were much nicer and friendlier. We actually had a few nice interactions there and I liked it.

London once again let me know I adore Starbucks.. I wish we had more than one Starbucks in Holland. The only one we have here is at Schiphol airport and that just isn't a place I go to every day. I love all the different types of coffee they serve and each time in the queue I had a hard time deciding which one to choose.

Well, I'm off to some more relaxation for a few more days before work starts again on Monday. Lets hope it will be better. And most of all; fun again...

I finally get to update! I haven't had my computer on in about two weeks, simply because there was no time to do so.

Work has been crazy since I got back from Paris. We are a team of 7 colleagues, but three of them are currently sick. One is depressed, one has a serious knee problem that requires surgery and a metal plate and the third hit us all the hardest.
My third colleague turns out to have cancer. The cancer is in her breast, but it has spread to her armpit already. The 'good' news is that it hasn't spread to her lungs, bones or organs, but it is a very aggressive form of cancer. Shock and horror went through all of us, also because we then heard that there is a two month waiting list to get proper treatment. Two months she doesn't have, since the doctors told her that if she had waited two more months to go to a doctor, she wouldn't have to get treated at all!!

I sort of went numb when I heard that news. Worked my ass off without letting the thought of my colleague and her sickness in. Until I was so tired and worn that when my car decided to die on me, I broke down in hysterical tears in front of my mother. The emotions just had to get out... Thank heavens my mother was there. I just so hope that her treatment will start soon and it will catch on so she can get better. This is the most positive and sweetest person I have ever met, if anyone deserves to just be healthy and happy, it is her.

With three sick colleagues, I still work my ass off. Especially since the renovation of our group is finally complete and we had to move back to it last week. I don't even really remember how I got through last week, but I know how tired I am now that I had two days off. I need to cut back on my hours asap, otherwise I need to call in sick too in a week.

Good news; Leonie and I have planned another trip! We're heading for London in July and I am ecxited now that I'm writing it down, because it hasn't really sunk in that we're taking this trip. I seriously need to start looking at what London has to offer because leetje wants to know which sights I really want to see.
